EKRIA is a studio that enjoys working with diverse materials. Through an approach that transforms materials, gives them a new identity and rewrites their story, the collections place tradition within a contemporary design language and current practice. Earthenware, natural wood, copper, hemp textiles, canvases and kilims come together as part of this evolving material dialogue.

The meeting of EKRIA and KALA began with a desire to introduce textiles and natural wood into Esra’s practice. This aspiration to create a tactile world opened a new door of creativity into the timeless universe of textiles.

Woven in Uşak by skilled artisans, these kilims carry stories within their threads. Threads unraveled from antique kilims carrying the DNA of Anatolia are re-dyed through Esra’s vibrant world of color, beginning a new century-long journey.
